This is so tragic. Heartbreaking video footage has emerged from inside the cockpit of doomed Lamia flight to Colombia.
The footage shows co-pilot Sisy Arias, 29, being interviewed ahead of flight and talking about how proud she was transporting Brazilian football team Chapecoense to their Copa Sudamericana final.
“We are ready to offer them the best service,” she said. “One thing that is very important to know is that the team is using a Bolivian airline to take them to Medellin, even though they are a Brazilian team.”
Sisy, who was also a famous model in Columbia, was celebrating her first flight as co-pilot on a civilian flight.
The plane crashed just minutes outside Colombia’s Medellin airport. Authorities are investigating what happened after the plane was forced to delay landing and ran out of fuel.
A panicked exchange with air traffic control reveals the pilot frantically asking to land because of fuel problems but another plane was experiencing mechanical issues, forcing landing to be pushed back.
71 people on board were killed including nearly all of the Chapecoense team and 20 journalists. Just six people survived.
