Two childhood friends now in their 40s have discovered that they were switched at birth.
The two men were born on the same day in 1975 at the Norway House Indian Hospital in Manitoba, Canada.
They were raised as friends in a small community of about 1500 people.
Friends and neighbours used to joke that they looked like they had been switched at birth.
The Toronto Star says Luke Monias and Norman Barkman used to laugh it off, but the “persistent jokes, rumors, and suggestions” made them want to find out for sure.
The switch was confirmed by a DNA test this week.
“I didn’t believe it until I saw the (results on) paper,” the Star quotes Monias. “That’s when it hit me.”
Each man has one parent still living. Between them, there also have 10 siblings.
“I would like some answers, for me and my family,” Luke Monias told a news conference on Friday.
