Australian Football League (AFL) fans watching the Richmond versus Carlton game where left a little confused last night, with many unable to wrap their minds around Carlton’s bizarre team shorts.
At first glance, it looked as if the team had dark grey pockets placed at the back of their shorts – which practically, would be a very unfortunate uniform addition.
The pockets turned out to be dark grey patches or ‘faux pockets’ on the player’s shorts – which some suggested is only a small step away from a more patriotic ‘acid wash’.
Fans were quick to share their feelings of bewilderment online.
“Hopefully there is an inquiry at Carlton to find out who washed the guernseys and shorts together. Shocking look. for those shorts,” tweeted one AFL game.
“I’m trying to focus on the game but those dark patches (faux pockets?) on the back of Carlton’s shorts are really baffling,” tweeted another.
“Loving my Blues boys but really disappointed in the shorts. Are they pockets? Why are they grey? I have so many questions.”
Don’t we all!
Even SportsBet had a go
This is one mystery that may never be solved, but it IS nice to see the spirit of team sports still manages to bring the country together – even if it is just online and a shared bewilderment over uniform design.
