Just days after his girlfriend was killed in a tragic, high-impact jetski accident on Thailand’s Kata Beach, it is been revealed that Tommy Keating faces charges of reckless driving causing death.
According to the Bangkok Post, Emily, 20, and Tommy, 21, were enjoying a day of jetskiing near Koh Puon on Sunday, February 5 when the couple’s two jetskis collided, leaving Emily with fatal neck and shoulder injuries.
After being pulled unconscious from the water, the Charles Sturt University student couldn’t be revived.
“Ms Collie was pronounced dead at the scene her body was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital,” says Lt Patiwat Yodkhwan from the Karon Police.
“Her parents are coming to Phuket to collect her body and they are expected to arrive on Wednesday (February 8).”
Reportedly, after the accident, Mr Keating said that strong sunlight reflecting off the water made it impossible for him to see Emily’s jetski.
However, Thai authorities have stated that Mr Keating will, in fact, face charges following Emily’s untimely death.
Shocked and devastated by his girlfriend’s passing, Mr Keating has taken to Facebook to commiserate the women he loved so dearly.
“Taken from us far too soon,’ the fourth-year plumbing apprentice from Melbourne wrote in the emotionally charged post.
“I love you so much Emily and I wish I could just bring you back into my arms.”
“I’m so broken and I know I’ll never, never be able to mend…”
“You where such an inspiration to myself and many others!”
“Fly high up there Emmy I know you’ll always be looking down on me and everyone you loved.”
“Rest easy, Emily, I’ll never forget you.”
