A toddler has undergone 15 minutes of CPR and is now fighting for his life after he was found floating in a swimming pool at a Perth family day care on Monday morning, Fairfax Media reports.
The carer at the Carramar home discovered the two-year-old boy unconscious and rushed to a neighbour to ask for help.
The neighbour, Keith Morrison, rushed to the property and commenced CPR for 15 minutes.
“The young lady next door came and rattled on the fly screen and mentioned something about a baby that drowned and fell in the pool,” he told Channel Nine News.
“I checked his airwaves, I checked his hand, there was no response so I cleaned out his mouth, then I tilted his head back, I listened to see if there was any breathing, see if his chest was rising, there was no response so I scooped his mouth out, gave him two breaths and I started CPR.”
Detectives and forensic police were called to the house to investigate how the boy managed to enter the pool, and also test the fence and pool water.
As of Tuesday morning he remains in a critical condition at Princess Margaret Hospital.
