Josiah Sisson, the young son of a pastor, has died days after being hit by a ute.
The nine-year-old was just around the corner from his home on Christmas Day admiring the festive lights when the vehicle veered off the road and struck him. His brother witnessed the accident.
He was taken to Brisbane’s Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital where he had remained in a critical condition however yesterday his parents made the difficult decision to turn off his life-support.
Family friend pastor Peter Field confirmed the news in a statement:
“[Josiah’s family] believe in the power of forgiveness and they’re now processing this and they’re moving forward.”
“They have another young son and as you can imagine they are all now trying to come to terms with the loss of this little boy, as nobody would ever anticipate something like this would happen to you on Christmas.”
Police allege the driver of the vehicle, a 24-year-old male who lives on the street, was speeding and over the legal limit. However, no charges have been made at this time.
