Isaac had suffered some asthma symptoms when he was younger but had been in perfect health for years and his doctors said he had simply grown out of the condition, as many children do.
But one night last August, while his mother Vicky was enjoying a rare dinner out, he suddenly started wheezing and struggling to breathe, reported the Manchester Evening News.
His babysitter, a trained lifeguard, started CPR immediately and emergency services were on the scene within six minutes but Isaac could not be saved and died before his mum could get home.
“Isaac had never had attack in his life. He wasn’t an asthma sufferer – he was perfectly normal and healthy,” Vicky said.
“I knew he had gone as soon as I saw him. The paramedics were amazing, but there’s nothing that could have been done to save him.
“The attack was just completely out of the blue. It was so unexpected that we didn’t know what had happened until after the post mortem.
“An asthma attack hadn’t even occurred to me because he had grown out of it. When we found out it was asthma, it was such a shock. It was absolutely horrendous. We’ve no idea what triggered it.
“I had taken him for a regular check up to an asthma nurse three weeks before and everything was fine.”
Isaac is survived by mum Vicky, dad Andrew, stepsister Alex, 15 and brother Archie, four.
