Bondi man left partially blind after dispute with neighbour

A quarrel between two neighbours has ended with one man being partially blinded after the other threw liquid chlorine into his face.

A 45-year-old man was playing with his daughter on a trampoline in the backyard of their home on Hastings Parade in North Bondi at about 2.45pm on Sunday before sending his daughter back inside.

A short time later, police allege the 31-year-old neighbour hurled liquid chlorine over the fence. It hit the man – who was still on the trampoline – in the face, leaving him with permanent damage to his eyesight.

It is believed the two men had been in an ongoing argument over frequent excessive noise in the younger man’s rented home.

The 31-year-old man has been arrested and charge over the act, which police believe was deliberate. He was granted bail to appear in Waverley Local Court on March 30.

The older man is being treated at the Sydney Eye Hospital.
