Renae Lawrence may have sentence reduced

Who is going to give Renae Lawrence a job? What am I supposed to do when people recognise me and don't want anything to do with me?

Lawrence and other Bali prisoners may have their sentences reduced for good behaviour in honour of Indonesia’s Independence Day.

The country will celebrate its 70th anniversary and prisoners who have been well behaved during their time in jail have been recommended to have their sentences reduced.

Lawrence is currently serving a 20 year sentence after smuggling heroin into the popular holiday destination in 2004 as part of the Bali Nine.

She told The Weekly in 2014 life after prison is also something she fears despite battling difficulties in jail.

“It’s hard to explain, but I have become adapted to jail life,” said Lawrence.

“I mean, I’ll probably walk out the door the day they set me free and be hit by a car.

Other prisoners recommended for reduced sentences include Kiwi Antony de Malmanche who was jailed for 15 years in June for drug smuggling and Edward Norman Myatt jailed for eight years in 2012 for drug smuggling.

They have both been recommended to have their sentences cut by three months.

Bali Nine ringleaders Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan were executed in April.
