The Australian pair, who have been in jail for almost a decade after being convicted on drug smuggling charges, complied with guards as they were picked up from their block and led to vehicles in a heavily armoured motorcade at about 3am Indonesian time.
The men, whom are widely accepted to have been rehabilitated in jail, are understood to have spent their final day at Kerobokan spending time with friends and family and saying their farewells.
They were said to have been calm, stoic and accepting of their fate.
They reportedly shared dinner with the jail’s governor last night.
Myuran ran art classes in the jail, while Andrew was studying to become a pastor.
Both are credited with helping rehabilitate and support fellow prisoners and were popular inmates at the notorious facility.
This morning, Balinese officials, including the deputy police chief and deputy governor, and around 100 police were reportedly at the jail in what’s been described by News Corp as “an unprecedented show of might” before the pair’s expected imminent execution.
A convoy fronted by military vehicles and cars of prosecutors led the road trip to Denpasar airport, where a plane was on standby to transfer them to Nusakambangan jail, dubbed Death Island.
Both men took bibles on their transfer, while Andrew had also asked to bring a drawing book, pens and clothes.
