Shocking news has come out of Kanpur in India after a woman hurled her own nephew, who was only 18 days old, off a balcony over 9metres high.
According to The Times of India, Sarita Devi claimed ‘jealousy’ as the motive behind her horrific actions. She has three daughters of her own but was envious of her sister-in-law for having a boy.
Sarita and her husband Satish were caring for the baby because his parents were attending to some important work in their home village. He was suffering from septicaemia and taken to a hospital to be treated, where the incident happened.
Sarita took the boy in the middle of the night and threw him out of the hospital window. CCTV footage showed her carrying a blanket pretending she still had the baby when she walked back into the ward.

The next morning, she raised the alarm and told police the boy had gone missing. During the search, they heard a baby’s cry nearby and found the boy entangled in an iron grill.
“The baby was critically injured and struggling hard to breathe. By the grace of God, he didn’t fall on the ground,” a hospital wardboy said.
Despite the huge fall, he survived and is in a “critical condition”.
“The baby boy is in a critical condition and has been kept on ventilator. He suffered injuries on head and other parts of the body. We are yet to conduct an MRI to see whether more internal organs have been damaged. He is also suffering from septicemia,” a doctor said.
His aunt was arrested and has been charged with attempted murder. Speaking to reporters at the time, she told them that “a voice told me to do it and I followed it.”
