Baby Kamillah, the 12-month-old mauled to death in a horrific Rottweiler attack yesterday, has been remembered as a “beautiful angel” that was “loved and adored by so many”.
The little girl was tragically killed in the rural New South Wales town of Inverell, while visiting her grandmother.
According the girl’s aunt, Kamillah was being pushed in a pram by her mother on the way “to her granny’s house just one block away” when the dog attacked them.
Kamillah died on the way to hospital.
While some reports say the Police have confirmed the animal belonged to a member of the family, the girl’s aunt took to Facebook to explain the dog was “not our family’s”.
“The dog in question cleared a fenced yard (someone else’s dog not our family’s). I really don’t care what the breed of dog it [sic] was.”
“Our family have lost our baby girl who never got a chance to live her life.”
A friend of the baby’s mother, who started a GoFundMe crowd-funding page to raise money for funeral costs, said “little Kamillah’s passing was so unexpected and a tragic accident”.
She paid tribute to the girl saying she was “a beautiful little angel” who “grew her wings much too early”.
A NSW Police spokesperson said the dog’s fate would be decided by Gwydir Shire Council.
New England police are investigating the attack and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports about 3430 dog attacks were reported to NSW councils throughout 2017, with 310 of these involving children under the age of 16.
