Mum Hayley Turner said her baby started to cry when she lay him on the mat in a village hall near her Oxfordshire home.
“I dismissed it as him being tired, cold and grumpy,” Hayley wrote on Facebook. “It turns out some lowlife scum thought it would be ‘fun’ to put drawing pins in the mat.
“Our poor baby now looks like a pin cushion with five holes in total. Angry doesn’t even cover it.
“Samuel is fine and has since forgotten about the whole thing. His back is much less red now too. I, on the other hand, am just in shock that people can be so cruel.”
Local police say a second baby was also injured by the pins concealed in the mat at Standlake Village Hall and detectives are investigating.
