Sydney property prices are notoriously high, but a recent listing in the prestigious suburb of Point Piper has smashed the record by coming onto the market listed at $80 million.
The waterfront, seven-bedroom manor, ”Elaine”, was built in 1863 and has been owned for the past 125 years by the Fairfax Media empire.
According to industry insiders the property’s ballroom and surrounding grounds have hosted many parties where Sydney’s elite rubbed shoulders overlooking the private beach.
The asking price is set at $10 million above the previous record set by James Packer’s Vaucluse mansion, La Mer, last year.
