The opposition party led by Nobel peace prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi is confident of victory in Myanmar’s first open election in 25 years.
An early count showed the Opposition winning all 12 of the seats counted.
Aung San Suu Kyi is the party’s leader but cannot become president because her children are British, and under the Constitution, no person with foreign children can hold the office.
The BBC reports that official results have been released for just 12 seats, and all were won by the NLD.
A quarter of the parliamentary seats are reserved for the army, and for the NLD to have the winning majority it will need at least two-thirds of the contested seats.
