Another wombat has been killed at a NSW camping ground, taking the confirmed death toll to 11.

Police found the body of the unfortunate animal at the Bendeela Camping Ground on Sunday night.

The discovery came after the previous weekend’s “wombat massacre” which saw 10 animals – including four nursing mothers – run over and killed from Friday night to Sunday morning.

“To have three nights in 10 days where someone has run over wombats is tragic,” Wildlife Rescue South Coast member Mark Cole. “It’s never ending.”

Wildlife Rescue South Coast is currently caring for the sole survivor of the killing spree, a five-month-old joey called “Lucky”.
