Huge congratulations are in order for Alex McKinnon and Teigan Power who’ve just tied the knot in the Hunter Valley.
The entire country has been captured by their love story since the high school sweethearts went through the unimaginable.
In March 2014, Newcastle Knights player Alex was told he would live the rest of his life as an incomplete quadriplegic after fracturing his C4 and C5 vertebrae in a football tackle.
The promising player was just 22 years old.
Days later, doctors warned Teigan that he may not make it through the night.
However, Alex did more than just survive. When he came out of his induced coma, he proposed to Teigan – just three weeks after the near-fatal tackle.
For the past three years, Teigan has been a rock to her inspirational fiancé and we’re thrilled the pair are finally married.
They took their vows in front of 150 of their nearest and dearest including some of NRL’s biggest names, including Brisbane Broncos captain Darius Boyd who served as Alex’s best man.
It’s understood Alex fulfilled his wish of standing on his wedding day. Teigan previously said of the promise: “It doesn’t worry me if he walks me (down the aisle), or is just standing at the altar; I still get to marry the man of my dreams.”
Huge congrats to the happy couple!
