Alex McKinnon, the NRL player who was left with a spinal injury after a tackle gone wrong last year, is reportedly exploring his legal options in regards to getting compensation over his injury.
McKinnon, 23, broke his neck when his team, the Newcastle Knights, versed the Melbourne Storm last year. It was Storm player Jordan McLean who delivered the career-ending tackle that put McKinnon in a wheelchair.
McLean was suspended for seven weeks following the incident.
Fairfax Media reports that McKinnon is now considering lodging a lawsuit against the Melbourne Storm and the NRL, and has been advised by lawyers he has a strong case.
McKinnon, who suffered two fractured vertebrae after the three-man tackle, declined to comment, Fairfax Media reports.
In January he stood unassisted for the first time since his injury.
