Update:
There’s apparently now a ‘witch hunt’ to find out which Channel 9 employee leaked the now viral video of Amber Sherlock and Julie Snook.
The footage was allegedly circulated around the 9 newsroom before it was leaked to Mumbrella and then the rest of the interwebs.
“It was hugely embarrassing and Amber will be demanding answers,” an insider told news.com.au, who added it’ll be difficult to find out who leaked the footage as so many people had access.
They also said: “Amazingly, wardrobe is probably the most debated issue for presenters.” Well, there you have it…
It comes as rival network Sunrise couldn’t resist taking a jab at the video.
Original story:
A clip of 9 News presenter Amber Sherlock having a meltdown over fellow journalist Julie Snook wearing the same colour as her has gone viral after being published by Mumbrella.
The off-air footage of the fashion emergency shows Sherlock getting extremely fired up over Julie’s white top.
They were about to go to air with guest, psychologist Sandy Rea, when Sherlock realised they were all in white and demanded Snook change.
For the segment, which aired Wednesday, Sherlock was in a different studio.
Speaking to her producer, the presenter said: “I need Julie to put a jacket on because we’re all in white. I asked her before we came on… Julie you need to put a jacket on.”
Snook defended herself, saying she’d not had time to change out of her outfit with Sherlock replying angrily: “Come on I told you two hours ago.”
“There can’t be three of us,” the presenter flatly continued.
“If it’s an issue I can get on out of here,” Snook replied.
“It is an issue. Go and grab a jacket,” Sherlock answered sharply, adding: “I wasn’t saying it for no reason. The wardrobe girls will be furious.”
Snook eventually puts on a jacket and the three are all smiles for live TV.
The whole exchange must’ve been extremely awkward for their guest, Sandy Rea… You can watch (and be shocked!) above.
Both journalists have since released a statement, with Sherlock admitting she “probably overreacted”.
“Live TV can be a pretty stressful beast, at times. And as anyone knows, it’s never much fun rocking up to work or to a party in the same outfit as one of your colleagues or friends. I probably overreacted with the pressure of presenting a live news bulletin. Thank goodness we had psychologist Sandy Rae around afterwards!!”
Snook added: “What can I say? Amber and I just really love white! Amber and I are good friends and I really enjoy working with her. News is a fast moving environment and sometimes these things happen.”
