It’s never too late for love, as proven by this heart-warming story of 84-year-old grandmother Phyllis Opper who married her high-school friend Nate Workman, 85, after reconnecting with him at their school’s 50-year reunion.
Phyllis’ 27-year-old granddaughter Lindsay shared the beautiful story of how they reunited with the US Today show.
After seeing each other 10 years ago at the reunion of the Massachusetts school, they began exchanging emails, which developed into a relationship. Lindsay said her grandmother had “a case of the schoolgirl giggles.”
It was late November last year at Lindsay’s boyfriend’s birthday dinner when they announced the loved-up pair announced to the table they were getting hitched.
There wasn’t a traditional proposal though. Instead, Phyllis said they discussed getting married on the car ride over. Talk about spontaneous!
Three weeks later, they got married.
Lindsay said of the pair: “As a teenager, I learned that it’s never too late for love.”
