A 12-year-old girl has been charged after she allegedly stabbed a 13-year-old boy in the chest on a Gold Coast playground.
Police have alleged that the girl brought the knife from home and stabbed the boy when he got into an argument with her and another girl.
Students at the school have speculated that the stabbing was jealousy-related.
“I think it was jealousy over a girl,” one student commented.
After the attack, which she allegedly posted about social media, detectives were called to the school, who charged the girl with six offences, including possession of a knife.
The boy has been discharged from the Gold Coast University Hospital after being admitted on Tuesday.
The boy’s sister expressed outrage and disbelief when she discovered that the school chose to call police and detectives first, before alerting an ambulance.
“It’s a tad disappointing… never in my life would I imagine this to happen,” she posted on Facebook.
The Department of Education claimed that first aid was administered at the school before ambulances were called.
