Police are on the lookout for a man after a 12-year-old girl was abducted and sexually assaulted in Newcastle on Tuesday morning.
The girl was walking through Hudson Park on Terrance Street, in the Newcastle suburb of Adamstown Heights when she was threatened by a man with a knife and sexually assaulted. She was then forced into a red car and driven to bushland where she was sexually assaulted further. The girl was then released at Kotara Railway Station just after 2:15pm.
According to The Newcastle Herald, about seven police cars attended the area, and police cordoned off a section of bush between the school and an amenities block at Hudson Park, at the back of Westfield Kotara.
When the girl returned home, police were notified and and she was taken to John Hunter Hospital for medical examination.
Police say they are looking for a man described as being of a solid/large build, and with brown hair and are urging anyone who was in the Adamstown Heights area or anyone with information that may assist to contact Crime Stoppers.
