You might want to exercise caution if any of these items are on your Christmas list this year… Although we’re not sure a nasal spray would be gratefully received, even without containing potentially fatal bacteria…
Consumer group Choice has released their list called the ’12 Recalls of Christmas’ and it features products that have been recalled because of faults.
Some products on the list are obvious – the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 that made headlines this year when models kept exploding. Or the nasal spray, Metagenic’s NasoClear that’s been recalled as some may contain potentially fatal Golden Staph.
Others are more surprising. For instance, a Swarovski Crystal Pendant Light that loses its crystals and Ozsale kids’ nightwear that doesn’t have fire-hazard warnings.
Choice’s Tom Godfrey said worryingly, only half of all recalled products are returned to the company.
The full list is below:
Ozsale kids’ nightwear – does not have fire-hazard warnings.
Swarovski Crystal Pendant Light – the crystals can detach
Flashing Duck with LED light – button and battery can be dislodged
Kogan’s 3DR Solo Smart Drone Quadcopter – some parts aren’t certified to Australian standards
Mesco inflatable frog – choking hazard
Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone – fire risk
Metagenic’s NasoClear – some may contain Golden Staph bacteria
Breville’s Fast Slow Cooker – scalding risk
Zoggs Swim Jacket – does not meet Australian standards
Spotlight’s Birch Candle – fire risk
Kmart spiral vegie cutter – blade may break during use
Adairs bean bag covers – missing mandatory warnings
