It’s official, Donald Trump has lost the plot. The president retweeted aggressively anti-Islamic videos, originally posted by the deputy leader of far-right British political party Britain First, and apparently doesn’t care if they’re real or not.

Soon after the first spasm of tweets, he implied a morning show host was embroiled in a murder.

Jayda Fransen posted videos captioned “Muslim Destroys a Statue of Virgin Mary!”, “Islamist mob pushes teenage boy off roof and beats him to death!”, and “Muslim migrant beats up Dutch boy on crutches!”, all of which apparently took Trump’s fancy.

So far, one of the videos, which originated from the Netherlands, has already been debunked.

Dutch blog GrenStijlreported “the perpetrator was not a Muslim, let alone a migrant, but simply a Dutchman” and Dutch public prosecution confirmed the suspect was “born and raised in the Netherlands”.

But perhaps most shocking of all, White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said it doesn’t matter whether the videos are real or not.

“I think you’re focusing on the wrong thing. The threat is real and that’s what the President is talking about, is the need for national security, the need for military spending and those are very real things; there’s nothing fake about that,” she told reporters on Wednesday.

Even one of Trump’s biggest UK fans, Piers Morgan, has condemned the Twitter seizure.

“I don’t know what on earth possessed Donald Trump to offer such a stunning, shocking and repulsive endorsement of these racist Muslim-despising scumbags,” he added.

“Casually tossing videos like this out to tens of millions of people, purely to encourage hatred of Muslims, is almost beyond belief. You might as well have addressed the American people from the Oval Office with a Ku Klux Klan hat on.”

Well and truly on a roll, Trump then hinted one of his ~~many~~ critics was implicated in the death of an intern.

Joe Scarborough is the host of MSNBC’s Morning Show and the “unsolved mystery” is that Lori Klausutis, 28, was found dead in Scarborough’s Florida office in 2001 was he was still a Republican congressman.

The death, however, has never been treated as suspicious. The medical examiner concluded she “lost consciousness because of an abnormal heart rhythm and fell, hitting her head on a desk.

“The head injury caused the death.”

This behaviour may not be surprising from the president, but that in itself is terrifying.
