A nurse suspected of murdering 13 patients in a Tuscan hospital in 2014 and 2015 has been arrested, Italian police say.
Dubbed โthe hospital ward killerโ, the woman is thought to have committed over a dozen murders while employed as a nurse in the intensive care and anesthesia wards of a hospital in the seaside town of Piombino, Tuscany.
Italyโs para-military police, the Carabinieri, are believed to have made the arrest on Wednesday.
A police statement on Thursday said that the nurseโs alleged victims had โvarious pathologiesโ but no other details were given, reports Reuters.
This case follows the 2014 arrest of Italian nurse Daniela Poggiali, 41, who was suspected of killing 38 patients.
Italian officials claimed Poggialiโs crimes were driven by the โchallengeโ and โpleasureโ she derived from murdering people in her care whom she deemed annoying or pushy.
