The Therapeutic Goods Association has issued an urgent recall of three of their best-selling children’s pain killers due to a possible choking hazard.
The recall extends to certain batches of the affected pain killers whose lids are supposedly unsafe.
The report goes on to explain that the material of the bottle lids make them prone to splintering upon opening, creating small fragments that have been identified as choking hazards.
The currently affected batches are from the Pharmacy Care and Pharmacy Choice brands.
This recall follows a previous recall of Chemmart, Pharmacy Choice and Terry White Chemists children’s pain relievers in July for the same reason.
The following batches are affected (all are 200mL):
Pharmacy Choice Ibuprofen Children’s Suspension (6 months – 12 years), batch number: FA4514 (expiry date: 03/2017)
Pharmacy Choice Children’s Paracetamol 6 – 12 Years Concentrated, batch numbers: IA50152 (expiry date: 01/2017), IA45030 (expiry date: 10/2016)
Pharmacy Care Children’s Paracetamol Suspension (6 to 12 years), batch number: IA50046 (expiry date: 11/2016)
Pharmacy Care Children’s Paracetamol Elixir (1 to 5 years), batch number: IA50002 (expiry date: 11/2016)
The previously affected batches were:
Chemmart Ibuprofen Children’s Suspension (6 months – 12 years), batch numbers: IA50030 (expiry date: 06/2017), IA45163 (expiry date: 05/2017)
Chemmart Children’s Paracetamol concentrated (6 – 12 Years), batch number: IA45031 (expiry date: 10/2016)

If you are in possession of any of the above, Women’s Weekly urges you to immediately remove them from children’s grasp and return them to the pharmacy from which you bought it.
