You get a stable genius president, and you get a stable genius president! We all get a stable genius president!!!!!!!
Fresh off of a big honour at the 2018 Golden Globes โ where she took home the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award โ those closest to Oprah Winfrey say that sheโs actually considering a run for the White House.
And we could not be more here for it!
Two friends close to the TV legend, 63, tell CNN sheโs โactively thinkingโ about running for commander-in-chief.
The friends opted not to be named, but it wouldnโt be the first time those closest to her opened up about the possibility of Oprah entering the political playing field. At last nightโs award show, Oโs longtime partner Stedman Graham proved to be in support of the idea, saying, โItโs up to the people. She would absolutely do it.โ
If last nightโs show was any indication, itโs clear that both celebrities and fans alike are here for Oprah taking over the Oval Office.
During last nightโs monologue, host Seth Meyers joked that itโs been rumoured that his jabs aimed at Donald Trump at a previous White House Correspondence Dinner โ during which, he declared that Trump could never be president โ prompted the current US president to run.
Knowing this, Seth did the only thing he possibly could do: He teased how Oprah would never be president, and would never have Tom Hanks as her VP. Way to use your influence for good, Seth.
In the past, Oprah has opened up and joked about taking a stab at politics. During an interview with Bloomberg TV, she joked about how Trumpโs insane victory inspired her to seriously consider a run for office.
She said, โI thought, โOh, gee. I donโt have the experience, I donโt know enough.โ Now Iโm thinking, โOh. Oh!'โ
Her BFF Gayle King later clarified, saying it was โclearly a joke. She explained, โNever. Iโll say never on this oneโฆ Nevah, N-E-V-A-H. Nevah,โ before admitting, โBut, I also heard on The Oprah Winfrey Show over the years you always have the right to change your mind.โ
Oprah famously endorsed Barack Obama in the 2008 election and Hillary Clinton in 2016. Consider this our formal endorsement for Oprah 2020!
