Future First Lady Melania Trump and her 10-year-old son Barron will not move into the White House right after her husband president-elect Donald Trump takes office.
The 46-year-old former model will reportedly remain in the family’s New York Trump Tower penthouse until her son finishes out the school year in June 2017.
According to a New York Post source Melania believes that transitioning Barron into his new life in Washington shouldn’t be rushed.
“The campaign has been difficult for Barron, and she is really hoping to keep disruption to a minimum,” a source told The Post.
Because of their engagement in political life Barron and Melania will have a full secret service tail for the time they’re living in New York.
Of Trump Tower Jim Reese, a former Delta Force commander and security expert, predicts that the First Family’s presence may cause some disruption to the city.
“The Secret Service is going to have to keep that whole area cordoned off so that some wacko can’t get close and detonate a car bomb,” Reese told The Post.
Trump transition spokesman Jason Miller said that Melania’s decision to stay in New York shouldn’t be seen as unwillingness to embrace her new role.
“The Trump family is energized and excited about their new role serving the country, and specifically the President-elect’s task at hand of helping to move our country forward,” Mr Miller told CNN..
