The father of ex-Aussie tennis ace Mark Philippoussis has been arrested on child-sex allegations in San Diego, California.
Nikolaos Philippoussis, 68, has been remanded in custody in San Diego, accused of molesting two minors who took tennis lessons from him.
Nick served as coach and manager to Mark Philippoussis throughout his career.
Lieutenant Greg Rylaarsdam from the San Diego Sheriff’s Department said Mr Philippoussis was arrested by detectives from the Child Abuse Unit.
“Philippoussis works as a personal tennis coach in Northern San Diego County and the alleged molestation victims took tennis lessons from him,” Lieutenant Rylaarsdam said.
He was arrested at his home in Mira Mesa and some journalists are reporting his bail is $2.5million.
The charges include lewd and lascivious acts with two children.
Earlier this year, Mark posted a tribute to his father on his Instagram account for Father’s Day:
“You were (and still are) always by my side protecting me and guiding me through life, and now watching you do the same with your grandson Nicholas is so beautiful to watch and I remain so grateful and blessed,” Mark wrote.
More as we get it.
