Lisa Wilkinson has slammed sections of the media for their handling of her Today show co-host Karl Stefanovic’s divorce from wife Cassandra Thorburn.
Speaking for the first time on Mamamia’s No Filter podcast Wilkinson told Mia Freedman that some of the speculation that has been published about the couple’s split has infuriated her.
“There’s a lot of rubbish out there at the moment, a lot of lies,” said Lisa.
While she didn’t name names the 56-year-old journalist took aim at some glossy magazines and digital publishers saying: “I am disgusted with some sections of the media at the moment.”
“It’s been really interesting, looking at weekly women’s magazines and seeing the way they operate in 2016, and seeing some of the online sites, and the complete lies they are happy to write,” she said.

Some of the ‘complete lies’ Lisa is likely referring to is the unconfirmed speculation about 42-year-old Karl already moving on with the likes of Delta Goodrem, Sofia Levin, as well as a “blonde marketing executive”, the list goes on…
Wilkinson, a mother-of-three herself, lashed out about the fact that some articles have been published “without any regard to the fact there’s human beings involved here, and there’s children involved.”
“My growing disgust for the people in charge of those magazines and those websites right now makes me so angry. My anger knows no bounds over that,” Lisa said.
“And I feel very protective towards the people that are involved…and you don’t want to give it oxygen. You don’t dignify any of it.”
Karl and Cassandra’s 21-year marriage ended in September and Karl has reportedly moved out of their family home.
