On Wednesday Home & Away star Jessica Falkholt tragically passed away just six days after her life support had been switched off, following the horrific Boxing Day car crash that claimed the lives of her parents and sister.
Today she was mourned in Sydney with a funeral at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Concord, less than two weeks after her parents and sister were farewell ed in the same location.
Among those who turned up to pay their respects was former Home and Away co-star, Pia Miller, Olivia Deeble, Jackson Heywood, Philippa Northeast, and Isabella Giovinazzo.
The touching eulogy from Jessica’s cousin, Cathy Randazzo left the congregation in tears.
“To us, her family, she was a mature, well mannered, kind and vibrant woman,” explained Cathy.
“She loved her family, she loved travelling, going on family picnics and she adored her late grandparents.
“She followed her dreams and chose to be an actor, and she was really really good at it.
“I seek comfort in knowing she is with her family now. Her and Annabelle were the centre of her mum and dad’s world.
“Her mum was her biggest supporter, rest assured she is being smothered with love and hugs from Vivian, Lars and Annabelle right now.
“She is no longer in pain and being the positive person she was, she would want us to be happy too.’
Just days ago, a tweet posted by TEN Eyewitness News explained the 29-year-old has lost her fight for life, passing away at St George Hospital. It is reported that a spokesperson stated that Jessica passed away at 10:20am this morning.
“Jessica passed away from serious injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on 26 December,” the statement read, as reported by News.com.au.
On Wednesday, January 10, a joint funeral was held for her sister Annabelle, 21, and parents Lars, 69, and Vivian, 60, according to The Daily Telegraph.
The other driver involved in the crash, Craig Whitall, also passed away at the scene after reportedly driving home from a methadone clinic.
It is not illegal to drive with methadone in your system but if a substance is proven to have impaired someone’s driving, they can be charged.
An autopsy may fail to determine if any drugs were in Mr Whitall’s system due to his severe injuries and subsequent fire.
Jessica’s parents died at the scene and her sister’s life support was turned off three days after the two-car collision.
The actress had been in critical condition since the accident after sustaining severe head injuries and placed in an induced coma.
Her family’s funeral was held in Concord last week, with hundreds of friends and family paying their respects.
“Lars, Vivian and Annabelle will be deeply missed by Vivian’s brother Paul, his children along with many relatives and friends both near and far,” a notice for the service read, according to The Daily Telegraph.
Paul Ponticello, Vivian’s brother, gave a eulogy at the funeral. “Their lives ending on a highway makes absolutely no sense,” he said, reported by The Sydney Morning Herald.
Our thoughts are with her friends and family during this difficult time.
