A Gold Coast drunk-driver has reportedly been caught drinking again straight after crashing his car into a car loaded with kids.

As reported by the Gold Coast Bulletin, at 1:30pm last Friday, the man, who is yet to be named, is believed to have been driving at high speed behind the wheel of a blue Commodore, swerving across the road.

It is then reported that he ran through a red light at the intersection of the Gold Coast Highway and Chairlift Avenue, ploughing into not one, but three cars.

The 31-year-old man then exited the car, holding a drink in his hand, and proceeded to become violent and aggressive with emergency services at the scene.

So far, two people were taken to hospital. They are believed to be in a stable condition at Gold Coast University Hospital. All involved in the multi-car crash are lucky to be alive.

The Australian also reported that in NSW between December 15 and January 1, 1100 drink-driving charges were reported, along with 1396 major crashes.

Just last week, Now To Lovereported the devastating news that Home And Away actress Jessica Falkholt had passed away following the horrific Boxing Day car crash that stole the lives of her parents and little sister.

The other driver involved in the accident, Craig Whitall, also killed in the crash, was reportedly driving home from a methadone clinic.

Jessica was in a critical condition three weeks before she passed away.

It is not illegal to drive with methadone in your system but if a substance is proven to have impaired someone’s driving, they can be charged.

An autopsy may fail to determine if any drugs were in Mr Whitall’s system due to his severe injuries and subsequent fire.

Our thoughts go out to all those who lost family members and loved ones on Australian roads this holiday season.
