Gerard Baden-Clay still wears his wedding ring in jail as he serves time for killing his late wife, Allison, prison sources have told The Courier Mail
The former real estate agent had his murder conviction downgraded to manslaughter this month, shocking Allison Baden-Clay’s family, friends and many people around the country.
Over 71,000 people have signed an online petition urging the Queensland government to launch an appeal while a group called Doingit4Allison will lead a public protest on Friday in the heart of Brisbane’s city.
Since the conviction downgrade Baden-Clay – who was previously sentenced to life in prison with a non-parole period of 15 years – has been moved to the “residential section” of the Wolston Correctional Centre in Queensland.
He has secured a job as a “trolley pusher” delivering meals to fellow inmates, according to prison sources.
“He seemed happy, he wasn’t nervous. Smug. He is always smug,” a prison source told The Courier Mail.
