It was the plot twist to end all plot twists.

Yes, we’re STILL talking about the moment when everyone learned that Moonlight won Best Picture, not La La Land as was originally announced.

And we cringed into the back of our seats. Can you imagine how awkward it would feel to be in the room?

Well, imagine no more… Because The LA Times captured it and yes, the collective cringe of Hollywood’s A-list was palpable.

Let’s break it down, shall we?

If looks could kill…

David Oyelowo looked angrily stunned. Matt Damon, Michelle Williams and Busy Phillips went for the open-mouthed gape and The Rock looked as if someone had just kicked a puppy.

Meryl Streep’s expression was absolutely priceless.

Much like the infamous ‘Oscars selfie’ of Ellen’s in 2014, this picture will go down in Oscars history.

Meanwhile, there’s been an update overnight about who’s really to blame for the whole fiasco.

Firstly, presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway defended themselves and now it seems PricewaterhouseCoopers are to blame.

Brian Cullinan and Martha Ruiz, the partners at PricewaterhouseCoopers who count the votes, establish the winners and place them in sealed envelopes before giving them to the awards presenters.

Brian was supposed to discard the spare Best Actress envelope and hand Warren Best Picture.

So, um, yeah…

TMZ allege the reason he made the blunder was because he was tweeting throughout the ceremony instead of doing his job.

In a now-deleted tweet, he congratulated Emma Stone was winning Best Actress.

The now-deleted tweet.

Extremely embarrassingly, the accountancy firm had previously boasted that their 83-year contract had never come up for tender because they “always” do a good job, Brian Cullinan calling the relationship “symbolic”.

Cullinan added that the Academy had “absolute trust in us and what we do”.

The Telegraph reports PwC and Academy executives were seen in crisis meetings following the on-stage blunder.

Will heads roll? Probably.
