Gold Logie winner and all-round superwoman Carrie Bickmore can now add radio presenter to her impressive CV. Joining Hamish and Andy on the HIT Network, Carrie will be on air from 3pm co-hosting the hour-long drive show with comedian Tommy Little.
The Project host started her media career in radio, before switching to television 10 years ago so the gig is likely to be an easy switch for the mum-of-two. On comparing TV to radio, Carrie said: “I love that immediate interaction you get with listeners [on radio] and the unpredictability that comes with it.”
“I am really looking forward to having some fun talking about the things I’m passionate about and find amusing,” she added.
Starting Monday, February 13, Carrie & Tommy will be broadcast nationwide, with Carrie going straight to the Channel 10 studios to host her hit TV nightly news program afterwards.
Hit Network’s Head of Content Gemma Fordham said The Project Host was an obvious choice.
“People know they are getting the real deal with Carrie. She calls it as she sees it, but has enormous compassion and can connect with everyone from everyday Aussies to Hollywood megastars.”
This announcement follows the news that Hamish and Andy will finish up their afternoon show at the end of this year, and our money’s on Carrie filling their shoes with an extended show slot.
