A 10-year-old girl from Melbourne’s south-east was rushed to hospital overnight after being attacked by a dog believed to be a Russian bull mastiff and a family pet.
The girl was apparently at her Berwick home alone with her younger sister when a neighbour heard the girl’s screams.
“This dog was just going berserk,” neighbour Jimmy told Melbourne radio station 3AW.
“She was badly mauled.”
According to The Herald Sun, the child suffered serious injuries including bites and lacerations all over her body and was taken to hospital in a serious condition. The Today Show has since reported that the girl in in a stable condition this morning.
Local council rangers have seized the dog.
It was the second vicious attack over weekend. Twelve-month-old Kamillah Jones was mauled to death by a rottweiler on Saturday in the NSW town of Inverell.
The baby girl was being pushed along a street in her stroller when a dog attacked her.
