At the tender age of just 15, Jessica Cornish began the road to stardom by winning Best Young Pop Singer on the program Britain’s Brilliant Prodigies.
But not even that wide-eyed, fresh faced teen could have imagined she would one day become international super-star Jessie J.
Just as the Bang Bang star heads back to Australia for the live rounds of The Voice we’re taking a look back at how far she’s come!
We know her as the tough-talking, harsh-but-fair coach on the reality show with a vocal range larger than we ever thought possible, but even Jessie J had to start somewhere.
The year was 2003, in between watching every episode of The O.C and dancing to R Kelly’s Ignition you barely had any time for yourself, but the Price Tag hitmaker had her sights set on super-stardom.
Even as a teenager Jessie J slayed Oleta Adams’ Get Here, which ultimately lead to her to taking out the title of Best Young Pop Singer on the British talent show.
“I wasn’t always someone who was talented. It was more that I was loud and loved a challenge. From a young age I knew I wanted to be something in the world,” the singer revealed to Glamour Magazinein 2012.
But, we have to disagree after coming across this incredible video of Jessie performing at 15 it’s clear she has talent in spades.
Although her career didn’t really begin taking off until 2010, the London local perfected her art at the The BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology in the London borough of Croydon, which birthed stars such as Adele and Amy Winehouse, where she graduated in 2006.
And as they say, the rest is history, because today Jessie J is one of the most wanted people in music as she performs to sold out crowds, sells millions of records and ruffles a few feathers on The Voice.
