The 1999 cult classic Cruel Intentions was one of those films that defined a generation, while also catapulting the careers of Sarah Michelle Gellar, Reese Witherspoon, Ryan Phillippe and Selma Blair.
And now it’s coming back, in the form a TV show.
Deadline.com reports that the remake will air on US channel NBC and it will follow the sexed up life of Reese and Ryan’s character’s son – 16-year-old Bash Casey.
It’s understood that the show will pick up after Bash discovers his late father’s journals and heads to a prestigious San Francisco boarding school.
Naturally, he finds himself at the centre of the elite school’s numerous scandals in a world soaked in sex, money, drugs and of course, corruption.
Reports have suggested that the film’s original writer/director Roger Kumble will be at the helm of this project along with its producer Neal H. Moritz – meaning that the TV series will stay true to its dark and twisty predecessor.
This news comes after a whole host of cult classic remakes have been announced this year, including Gilmore Girls, Full House, Absolutely Fabulous and the X-Files.
