If you’re a steak-lover, you might want to look away now because a young Sydney couple have captured what looks like worms crawling around their medium cut of meat.
Stella Kim and her partner Sushil Lamichhane were celebrating their 1000 day anniversary (yeah, we didn’t know that was a thing either) at The Ranch Hotel in North Ryde when they made the grim discovery.
Stella filmed the maggots and posted the video to Facebook, claiming The Ranch has been deleting their online reviews.
“We ordered steaks and one of our steaks was full of worms,” she wrote.
“Live worms coming out of the steak. We couldn’t believe this was happening at one of the big restaurant in Australia. Don’t know how many people are affected by this.”
The video has been viewed on Stella’s Facebook page nearly 250,000 times and has been shared over 3,000 times.
Andrew Yong, legal officer for the ALH Group which owns The Ranch, told the ABC that the restaurant had conducted its own investigation and had determined the maggots were likely laid after the steak was cooked.
Mr Yong also said they were happy for the City of Ryde Council to conduct an investigation into the incident.
Stella said in her post she hopes “NSW Food Authority City of Ryde take some actions to deal with this offensive and disgusting service, as they are putting a lot of diners at risk. I wish no one has to go through this horrible experience. We have lost our appetite.”
The couple were reportedly offered $150 in vouchers.
