Meet Barbie’s real life counterpart, Lammily, unlike her perfect pal she gets acne, stretch marks and a recent update means periods happen too – just like every other girl.
Lammily now comes with pads as an accessory, and it hopes to teach young girls about their bodies so they’re not embarrassed by it and instead learn to love themselves.
On their website, the creator behind the ground-breaking doll explains, “While being a huge part of female life, this perfectly healthy natural process [periods] is still surrounded with taboos.”
“Let’s start an open and positive conversation about our periods.”
The accessory update comes with 18 reusable stick-on pads, one pair of undies, a calendar to track your menstrual cycle and an educational pamphlet.
The real-life Barbie replica first made headlines when its creator, Nickolay Lamm, made a doll with body proportions that appropriately reflect those of actual human girls.
Among the accessories you can buy for the toy are clothes that aren’t too skimpy and stretch marks, acne and cellulite stickers.
Sorry fashion Barbie, there’s a new girl in town – and she’s just like everyone else.
