Now, Perth twins Anna and Lucy DeCinque would like to inform you that they’d like to get pregnant at the same time.
On Tuesday night the pair, 30, appeared on SBS current affairs program Insight for the show’s twins episode, where they lifted the lid on their tight bond.
“If I got pregnant Lucy would definitely get pregnant straight way – because our bodies need to be the same,” Anna explained to news.com.au, adding they’re not actively trying right now.
“We would try to make that happen, definitely. We are not trying right now – we love children and kids love us, but it’s not the time for us.”
Before concluding, “We would have to be exactly the same – even if we went through IVF at the same time.”
The girls joined a room full of twins for Insight’s special investigation.
For social and scientific researchers, twins are “the perfect natural experiment”, especially identical twins who share 99.9 per cent of the same DNA.
While Anna and Lucy may not have conducted their own research, they’ve always wanted to be identical – even if that meant turning to surgery, which they’ve estimated to have cost them over $250, 000 over the past decade.
“The only surgical procedure we have had is breast implants. We have had lip fillers, eyebrow tattooing, skin peels – but only surgery on our breasts,” they admitted.
Two years ago, Woman’s Day interviewed the sisters and their shared boyfriend-of-four-years Ben Byrne, now 32, about their unique setup.
“We’ve had separate boyfriends before, but they didn’t understand our closeness. Ben understands we want to be together all the time,” they explained, before adding that the Perth tradie is a twin himself!
“It’s my first time with two girlfriends, and to be honest it’s very difficult because it has to be 100 per cent even,” Ben told us back in 2014.
“It was demanding in the beginning, but now I know better. It takes the spontaneity out of it sometimes, but everything has to be equal with these two.”
Clearly, the unorthodox arrangement works for the trio, who live with the girls’ mother, Jeanna.
“The main question we get asked is, ‘How does one guy keep up with two girls in the bedroom?’” Lucy joked during our chat. “Put it this way, we’re very active girls and he needs twice the energy!”
Insight host Jenny Brockie also quizzed the ladies on their specific sleeping arrangements. “We sleep in the same bed! [A] super King-sized bed,” they revealed.
These girls definitely give new meaning to the saying, “it’s a twin thing!”
