The world came to know her as the cheeky red-headed orphan with soft curls and adorable freckles and when Aileen, who played Annie, stepped out at the Actors Fund’s 19th Annual Tony Awards Viewing Party at the Skirball Cultural Center in LA on Sunday it wasn’t easy to recognise exactly who it was.
While there were no freckles in site, the 43-year-old still sported her famous ginger tresses and looked elegant in a black cocktail dress and nude pumps.
At the event the singer and actress was reunited with her co-star Tim Curry, who played Rooster Hannigan in the 1982 classic.
Tim was being honoured with a lifetime achievement award and the pair enjoyed a special reunion after over three decades apart.
“Tim was the one [co-star] I hadn’t seen in 30 years,” Aileen told People magazine.
“It was very emotional because what people don’t realise about him is how kind he is in real life.”
“When I came up to him I was like, ‘Tim, do you remember this face?’ And he said, ‘Of course I do!’ and he had kind of this wry smile.”
Aileen has since starred in The Comeback Kids, Multiple Sarcasms and The Frog Prince
