Earlier in the season, passionate Port Adelaide fan Lilly, five, confidently told star player Jarman Impey from the sideline that she wanted to marry him.
So the divine five-year-old could hardly believe her luck when he actually popped the question on Wednesday.
In an adorable moment of cold feet, she told Seven reporter Hamish McLachlan at half-time, “I think I just said it, I don’t think we’ll actually get married together!”
But Jarman, 20, decided to matters into his own hands by hosting an incredibly sweet meet-and-greet at the training Alberton fields this week.
When the pair were finally introduced they both exchanged beautiful bunches of flowers… Yes, Lilly made sure she had some pretty posies to give the Port Adelaide player.
The 2014 AFL rising star nominee also decided to pick up a ring prior to seeing Lilly.
“When Jars found out he was going to meet Lilly, he stopped in to buy that little ring on his way from training at Adelaide Oval back to weights at
Alberton,” the club said on its Facebook page. “He’s a ripper!”
While his team may think he is a “ripper”, Lilly decided he was not marriage material, laughing as she politely declined. Eventually, the bubbly blonde accepted the ring and posed for a happy snap.
After their catch-up, Lilley’s dad Andrew thanked the club for his little girl’s special day. “Lilly is still talking about how amazing he [Jarman] is. We really appreciate everything, what a wonderful family the port adelaide family is,” Andrew Brown said.
“Lilly was over the moon. You have made our family very happy,” her mother added.
