Christmas gift guide: what magazine editors want in 2015

As editors of the country's leading magazines, they're the taste-makers of all things stylish - so who better to ask for tips on what to give for Christmas?

Christmas gift ideas from Anthea Loucas, editor of Australian Gourmet Traveller

Why did you pick these gifts?

“I am a sucker for handmade ceramics and Bridget Bodenham is one of my favourites so I can’t go past those espresso cups. And who wouldn’t want a tangerine ice-cream maker for summer?

“The Gourmet Traveller Christmas hamper is a no-brainer, filled with our favourite treats, from Baker D. Chirico’s gingerbread stars to a Dessertmakers sour cherry pudding.”

Describe your ideal Christmas

“It’s the perfect sunny day, the table is laid to casual perfection, the turkey, the ham and the pav have all turned out beautifully, the cocktails are flowing and The Afro-Cuban All Stars tunes are up loud, all the oldies and the kids are dancing!

Before the sun goes down we all head to the beach to catch some waves. Back home salty and happy, collapse exhausted on the sofa.

That’s my perfect Christmas.”

“I love the linen-covered armchairs from MCM House. I’m also stockpiling new linen and towels, so I’d be very happy to find Missoni towels under the tree.”

Describe your ideal Christmas

“Wake up in my home surrounded by visiting family, give out a ridiculous amount of presents, sing along with Bing Crosby loudly (and badly), cook all morning (powered by a few Bellinis) and eat, drink and be merry until it’s time to pass out on the beach.”

“I love the hand-drawn outdoor fabrics from local design company Utopia Goods. Armadillo & Co rugs are art for the floor and designs are developed with Indian weavers. Books and “bored” games are a must.
