After stepping of a private plane at the NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, Calif., on Dec. 3 to attend the 2018 Breakthrough Prize Awards, the couple unexpectedly posed for photos together on the red carpet — the very first time they’ve officially done so since they became a couple five years ago.

“They were being super cute. He was whispering in her ear and she was giggling,” an observer explained. “Then they headed into the party holding hands. Mila looked very happy.”

She is. Nearly two-and-a half years after the onetime That ’70s Show co-stars walked down the aisle, “They’re finally at a really good place in their relationship,” an insider told In Touch, explaining that the parents of two have been through a lot since their friendship turned romantic in 2012.

After a “rocky period” that included Ashton being photographed in 2015 exiting a questionable massage parlor and Mila’s issues with his ex-wife, Demi Moore — who wanted to stay friends.

Mila, 34, and Ashton, 39, made a pact before they got married. “Basically, they agreed on equality all the way: They promised to coparent equally and support each other’s careers equally.

They prioritize everything around their family, their busy work schedules, play time [for daughter Wyatt, 3, and son Dimitri, 1], visits to the gym, visiting with friends and family — nothing is taken for granted,” the insider explained.

It helps that Ashton won’t take on a role if Mila’s got a project going at the same time, and vice versa.

“They switch of so that Wyatt and Dimitri aren’t being cared for by nannies,” the insider added.

And when problems do arise, they address them immediately. “They’ve even had couples therapy to keep their lines of communication open,” says the insider. After nearly two decades of friendship, Mila and Ashton are determined to make sure their relationship lasts.

“They work really hard at it,” the insider continued. “They won’t allow their marriage to become a Hollywood casualty.
