The trench is a timeless classic that has been around since 1901 and, fortunately, doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.
If you feel the traditional beige trench is too bland, there are many alternatives out there. Designers are reinventing the trench in bold colours, soft fabrics and with clever details, so you are sure to find one that suits your style.
If you are looking to update the trench look, try belting it with silk scarves or leather belts (see our July 2007 issue for some fabulous ideas).
There are also plenty of beautiful printed winter scarves out there and wrapped around your neck they will add a splash of colour to any basic coat.
