Chichen Itza, the iconic archaeological site of Mayan ruins. Now listed as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, the immensely popular step pyramid inspires thousands of visitors a year. The Mayans reflected their harmony with nature by designing the city’s structures to align with the stars. It’s a 2 hour bus ride from Cancún, with a full day of exploring the castles, ballrooms and massive observatory.
