Time magazine will showcase 46 extraordinary groundbreaking women in its September 18th issue and online in an ongoing multimedia project. The sensational women include the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Selena Gomez and Aretha Franklin.
The women featured range in ages from 16 all the way to 87-years-old and all of them have been instrumental in shaping the world we live in today.
Nancy Gibbs, Time’s first ever female Managing Editor, explains:
“Our goal with this extraordinary project— which encompasses a magazine, the multimedia project at and a book coming out September 19—is for every woman and girl to find someone who moves her, to find someone whose presence in the highest reaches of success says to her that it is safe to climb, come on up, the view is spectacular.”
“They were candid about their challenges, aware of their responsibilities, eager to tell the stories that will surprise and inspire. We hope everyone, at every life stage, will encounter an insight here that will open a door to new ambitions.”
“As former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright always says, ‘There is a special place in hell for women who do not help each other'”, Nancy continues.
“But the reverse is also true and more uplifting: there is a special place in heaven for women who shine the light and share it with others.”
The Time team has also been pushing the Hashtag on social media: #SheDiditFirst which is being met with much delight.
