These transgender parents explain they are raising a person, not a son

Transgender Louise and pansexual Nikki are raising their son, Star Cloud without a gender.

Nikki and Louise Draven from the UK are being called Britain’s first gender-fluid family raising their four-year-old son, Star Cloud as a “person” not a boy.

Star recognises Louise, who identifies as transgender, as the “mother” in the family and Nikki, who identifies as a pansexual the father of the happy little family.

Although Nikki is Star’s birth mother, she fell into the role of father after Star started calling her “Dada.”

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Lousie 31, explains they let Star lead them when it comes to gender roles for himself and the family.

‘We don’t tell him who to be. We let him lead us,’ she said.

Nikki, 30, agrees, explaining: “Neither of us gets hung up on the gender we were born as.

“We don’t want our child constrained by that either. We’re just an ordinary family being who we want to be.”

Star’s school, which he is set to start in September, has been extremely supportive of his gender neutrality. Star will wear a boy’s school uniform accessorised with a pink vest and socks which he picked out himself.

This wasn’t a surprise to Star’s parents, who confirms pink is one of the child’s favourite colours.

‘We never tell Star he’s a boy, we tell him he can be whatever he wants. We don’t buy gender specific toys or clothes and we let him choose what he wears. Pink is one of his favourite colours.”

“When we decided to raise Star as gender fluid we talked about things like other children’s attitudes,” Nikki continues.

“Of course we had doubts – what would other people say, what trouble could it cause, would our son be bullied?

‘But then we realised children always find a reason to bully other kids.”

“When one boy told him he looks like a girl, Star told them he looked like the comic book hero Aquaman.”
