If there was a list of things that are distinctly unfunny, car insurance would find itself near the top. (Sandwiched between your kids having a meltdown in the supermarket and anyone who starts a sentence with “This really funny thing happened…”.)
But, because 2020 is the year of things being flipped on their head, Gen Fricker and Stella are challenging the status quo of car insurance being boring, overcomplicated and generally unrewarding.
The comedian and radio host — who you probably recognise from triple j and Have You Been Paying Attention? — is the face (and voice) of Stella’s launch campaign. Stella, in case you are wondering, is a new car insurance brand that’s designed for women, by women.
To celebrate the launch, Gen stars in a series of kitsch ads that see her singing about car insurance scenarios we can all relate in her trademark upbeat-meets-deadpan-always-hilarious style.
WATCH: Hit play on the video above to see comedian Gen Fricker actually make car insurance sound funny and relatable!
From swearing about a pram being stolen from the boot of a car to trying to decode an excess policy while juggling a million and one other things, Gen manages to make car insurance seem not just simple, but actually fun and relevant to women — she even gets a tongue-in-cheek ‘hashtag blessed’ mention into the lyrics!
Of course, it helps that Gen and Stella are singing from the same song sheet.
Both Gen and the brand’s founder, Sam White, are fierce advocates for women and female empowerment. It also helps that Stella has been founded to take the stress out of car insurance and reward women with perks that they actually want.
That means great value and things like: cover for up to $2,000 for baby gear that is stolen, reduced excess for no claim, a new car replacement if your brand-new car is declared a total loss in the first three years^ and a free magazine subscription with every new policy!
Do yourself a favour and watch the video above. Then give Stella a call and switch today.
